Course Overview

This qualification is for those working in, or looking to enter roles in assessment.
The units and qualification will provide those who carry out assessment roles in their organisation with the opportunity to develop and improve their practice as well as achieving a professional qualification for the role.

This award is for practitioners who assess knowledge and skills in vocationally related subject areas who use the following assessment methods: assessments in simulated environments, skills tests, oral and written questions, assignments, projects, case studies and RPL. This may take place in training workshops, classrooms or other learning environments.
This course is delivered part time on a 1:1 flexible basis. Course fees are £700.

Qualification Gained

Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (9 credits)

After The Course

On completion of this two unit qualification, you will have a good understanding of the principles and practices of assessment and how to assess vocational achievement of learners. You can progress to completing the full level 3 qualification, Assessing Vocationally Achievement, or progress to an internal quality assurance qualification.

What Will I Learn

You will study the following two units:
Unit 1: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (3 credits)
Unit 3: Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding (6 credits)

This course is delivered by a combination of highly experienced and qualified lecturers and industry experts.

Teaching Learning and Assessment

Teaching, learning and assessment will be through a mix of support sessions, self study and teacher led professional discussions. All learning outcomes across this unit are internally assessed and marked online via our Smart Assessor platform.

The cost for this course is £700.

How Will I Be Assessed

Your assessor will help you identify any training you need, agree an assessment plan with you, help you plan and organise your development, help you to identify sources of evidence, observe you carrying out your job in the workplace, ask you questions about the work you do, make assessment decisions about the work you submit – both evidence and assignment(s) judge when you have met the requirements of the qualification and give you feedback about your evidence and assignment(s).

Entry Requirements

This course requires candidates to hold GCSEs in English and maths at grade C / 4, or an equivalent (e.g. Functional Skills Level 2).

You will also need to hold a minimum of a level 3 qualification or working towards a qualification in the subject you wish to assess/teach or experience of working in a sector.

Required Experience

You need to be in an education setting where you are engaging in assessment activity. A candidate assessor will need to assess a minimum of two candidates. It is the responsibility of the candidate assessor to locate these candidates. All candidate assessors must have the support of an occupationally competent and qualified assessor who will be responsible for countersigning all decisions made by the candidate assessor.
