Course Overview

The OCNLR Level 3 Award in Technology in Teaching and Learning has been designed for both newly qualified and experienced teaching practitioners for use as part of their continuous professional development following the recommendations of the FELTAG (Further Education Learning Technology Action Group) report and the need to incorporate digital technologies in the learning environment. It focuses on the skills involved in communication using a range of software, the use of mobile devices to produce and share multimedia content, the use of a cloud or a VLE system and of video as a tool for assessment and feedback. The qualification also covers how to broaden the range of types of assessment and submission methods. This course is delivered part time over 22 weeks. Support can be accessed remotely or in person during drop-in sessions on a Wednesday afternoon, however the course content will be delivered asynchronously.

Work Experience & Industry Placements

This qualification is suitable for work-based practitioners involved in teaching and learning. This is an in service qualification and requires access to current teaching practice.

Qualification Gained

The OCNLR Level 3 Award in Technology in Teaching and Learning consists of four mandatory units. In order to gain the Award the learner must achieve 12 credits at Level 3.

After The Course

This qualification enables practitioners to gain accreditation for continuing professional development in teaching and learning which may allow them to progress to a higher level qualification or to secure or maintain their employment at professional or managerial levels within education.

What Will I Learn

The OCNLR Level 3 Award in Technology in Teaching and Learning consists of four mandatory units. In order to gain the Award the learner must achieve 12 credits at Level 3. Mandatory units as follows; Exploiting the Web for Communication in a Teaching and Learning Setting Sourcing, Sharing and Storing Web Content Presenting and Connecting in the Cloud for Teaching and Learning Using Technology for Assessment for Learning and Feedback

Teaching Learning and Assessment

The Teaching learning and assessment process for this qualification is as follows: Drop-in support sessions, accessed both live and remotely. Assessments submitted using Smart assessor portfolio. All learners are assessed through activities that are internally set by tutor assessors; The activities are designed to enable learners to meet the assessment criteria of the unit; Learners’ portfolios of assessed evidence will be internally moderated at the Centre; The portfolios of assessed evidence will be externally moderated by an OCN London External Moderator. There is no additional external assessment for this qualification Assessments include, written assignments, direct observations in practice and assessment of product evidence.

This qualification is suitable for work-based practitioners involved in teaching and learning. The minimum age for access to the qualification is 18 years

Required Experience

A teaching practice placement is required along with ICT skills at level 2
