Course Overview

This qualification is for those working in, or looking to enter roles in assessment and internal quality assurance. For practitioners who conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process from within a centre or organisation, by sample planning, monitoring and advising on the practice of assessor. This course is delivered part time on a flexible 1:1 basis, the course duration is 36 weeks or one academic year.

Work Experience & Industry Placements

Industry related placement and employment required with a focus on quality assurance of assessments.

Qualification Gained

Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (12 credits) TAQA - IQA (Internal Quality Assurer).

After The Course

These qualifications relate to and are designed to complement the following qualifications: Level 3 award in Education and Training Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training

What Will I Learn

The units and qualification will provide those who carry out assessment and internal quality assurance roles in their organisation with the opportunity to develop and improve their practice as well as achieving a professional qualification for the role. Unit 401 Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment, Unit 402 Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment.

Teaching Learning and Assessment

As an -IQA will need to show that you can provided support for a minimum of two assessors, each of these assessors need to be assessing 2 candidates. It is the responsibility of the candidate-IQA to locate these assessors and their candidates. Additionally, the candidate-IQA must have the support of an occupationally competent and qualified Internal Verifier who will be responsible for counter-signing all the decisions made by the candidate-IQA. Please note that the College does not provide for these requirements.

How Will I Be Assessed

You will be assessed using observation, written assignments, professional discussion, reflective accounts and work product of evidence produced. A candidate-IQA will need to show that they have provided support for a minimum of two assessors, each of these assessors need to be assessing 2 candidates. It is the responsibility of the candidate-IQA to locate these assessors and their candidates. Additionally, the candidate-IQA must have the support of an occupationally competent and qualified Internal Verifier who will be responsible for counter-signing all the decisions made by the candidate-IQA. Entry Requirements

TAQA Assessors or equivalent- (A1, D32, D33).

Required Experience

Experience within the training and education sector is desirable.
