Course Overview

This Level 1 Electrical qualification will teach you the techniques used in all aspects of basic electrical installation. Upon successful completion, you will have the skills to progress onto a Level 2 qualification or an industry recognised apprenticeship through Yeovil College. It is ideal for individuals who are currently unemployed, may be thinking about a career change or are simply looking to develop their DIY skills in order to complete tasks around the home. The course will be delivered onsite as well as virtually. You will be required to participate in one hour of online learning per week for the duration of the course. (Note: As a non-qualified person, you are limited as to what electrical tasks can be completed without registered sign-off.)

Qualification Gained

Upon successful completion of this qualification, you will be awarded a City & Guilds Level 1 Certificate in Construction Skills (Electrical). We can also ensure that you are ready to undertake a CSCS test.

After The Course

Progression from this course naturally leads to our Level 2 Diploma in Electrical or directly into paid employment opportunities within the Construction industry.

What Will I Learn

By undertaking this qualification, you will explore a wide range of different electrical containment systems, accessories and cables types used in the electrical industry, whilst developing the essential hand-skills for installing and maintain electrical components. The qualification will also provide the necessary Health & Safety skills and knowledge to support you working within the construction industry, along with tips and advice from our skilled, expert lecturing team.

Teaching Learning and Assessment

Our facilities, which are supported by Screwfix and Bradfords, are a key strength. You will be taught and assessed through a series of predominantly practical lessons, with some theory sessions taught in our well-equipped workshops, all designed to replicate real-world environments. You will also be expected to complete a small amount of online distance learning to acquire the skills needed to pass assessments and gain the qualification.

Course Expenses

You will be expected to provide your own safety footwear and Hi-Viz vest. A fee will be discussed on enquiry.

How Will I Be Assessed

You will be assessed through a theory test and practical assessments during the programme.
