The Apprenticeship and Careers Fair will bring together a variety of employers from a wide range of local industries and sectors, who are looking to attract, train and recruit the next generation of their workforce. Furthermore, the Apprenticeship and Careers Fair will be focused on training and retain talent within our region through hands-on, practical training and education within the workplace.

Employers present are from a huge number of local and regional employers including; Leonardo, Thales, Powrmatic, Numatic, Old Mill, Honeywell Aerospace, The Army, Harmony Fire, The Newt, Nationwide Building Society and Goldenstones Leisure Centre, plus many more. Around 35 employers will be showcasing their current Apprenticeship vacancies, the benefits of their company and the support that is offered to them at Yeovil College.

Over the last few years, the college has seen massive growth within its Apprenticeship programme and now offers Apprenticeships in many sectors including Engineering, Health and Social Care, Construction, Automotive Engineering, Sport, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, Business and Computing. The event will demonstrate this range of course options, career opportunities and Apprenticeship vacancies available through Yeovil College and their employer partners.

Alex Clancy, Director of Employer Engagement, commented: “Personally, I think I’ve got the best job here at Yeovil College, and that’s because I work with fantastic employers and brilliant students to discover their perfect career paths. That all starts with finding an apprenticeship at the right place, at the right time, and at the right level for them. Over 95% of our apprentices continue in their employment once their apprenticeship has finished, or even progress to more positive destinations. Here at Yeovil College, we are proud to work with some of the key employers in the region to support almost 1,000 apprentices across 60 different curriculum areas.”

Yeovil College’s expert Apprenticeship Coordinators will be on hand at the event to help impress employers, polish CVs and offer advice on how to choose and achieve the career dream.

Apprenticeships are available to people over the age of 16, but have no upper age limit. They provide a positive route to employment, alongside gaining an education, where 20% of time is spent in learning and education, whilst 80% is dedicated to learning and working on-the-job.
