English speakers of other languages

Is English your second language?

Do you need to improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills?

Don't worry - we CAN help!

ESOL students under instruction

If you have come to live or work in the UK and your first language is not English then these are the courses for you.  They will help you improve your speaking, listening and general communication skills for every-day life.

The courses lead to internationally recognised Cambridge Skills for Life qualifications and are offered at various levels from beginners at Entry 1 up to more advanced classes at Level over 1 year.

Alternatively, if you would like a shorter course to help you achieve your goals, Edexcel exams will recognise your skills in speaking and listening, reading and writing.

The classes include information about citizenship* and help you build your confidence for living and working in the UK.

The topics covered include the health service, travelling around the UK, different cultures, studying, work, education   and much more…..

Materials will be provided but you should bring a pen and pencil, some paper to write on and a folder.

Classes are in the daytime or in the evening.

You will need to come to Yeovil College for an interview and assessment before you start your course so that you are placed in a class at the correct level.

Fees are payable unless you are receiving certain benefits.  You may have to pay more if you have not been living in the UK of EU for the last three years.

Apply now and improve your English Language skills - just email sfl@yeovil.ac.uk or telephone 01935 845399.

Remember - we CAN help!

There are certain Home Office language requirements which are needed when you are either trying to gain citizenship or extend your leave to remain in the UK.  You can see more details on how Yeovil College can help you with the Home Office language requirements on our ESOL and Citizenship web page.
