Certificate in Coaching Football Level 1

Title and Level: Coaching Football Certificate Level 1

Introduction
This Level 1 Certificate is awarded by 1st 4 Sport Qualifications and has been developed with the Football Association and FA Learning.  It is appropriate for those looking for an introduction to working with grass roots football teams, or parents of children in junior teams who want to get more involved.  Learners on FE and HE courses may wish to use this qualification to supplement their sports courses or achieve accreditation for part of a unit on a sports-related course. 

The cost of this course will include the First Aid CPR and Child Protection unless you have a current certificate.  The course will include 2x 2 1/2 hour support sessions with the tutor and one full day of assessments.

Entry Requirements
Anybody over 16 years of age

Duration
There are two occurences for this course - one in October 2011 the other February 2012.

Child Protection Workshop and First Aid to be arranged as required.

Career prospects/Progression
Leading to Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football (The Football Association)

How will I be assessed?
Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and ethics required in the role of coach and the principles and practice of coaching football skills to children between the ages of 7-16. Deliver a short pre prepared practical coaching session which will be observed and assessed by a qualified assessor.  Answer written and oral questions on any adpect of the course.

Course content/units
The Qualification comprises 4 units:

  • Unit 1 Introduction to Safe and Ethical Coaching
  • Unit 2 Prepare to Deliver Coaching Activities
  • Unit 3 Deliver and Review Coaching Activities
  • Unit 4 Coaching Football


All candidates must have evidence of attendance at an FA Child Protection and Best Practice Workshop (3 hours) and a FA Emergency First Aid Certificate (or equivalent 3 hour course & qualification).  Both these qualifications are necessary to achieve the full certificate.

Course expenses
Course fees: £202.50
There is an additional charge of £12.50 payable after enrolment if candidates are required to complete a Safeguarding Children Workshop and £1 for First Aid Certificate registration if needed.
