Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector

Title & Level: Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) Level 4

Introduction
This one year part-time course is designed for those who are teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector in the 'Associate Teacher' role as defined by LLUK.  It requires you to achieve four units of varying credit values and meets the requirements of ATLS with the Institute of Learning.

The course consists of three core modules and then participants choose one optional module from a list of choices at Level 4.  The qualification is credit based and the optional module chosen should have a value of at least six credits.  The core consists of modules in:-

Preparing to Teach (which you may already have)
Planning and enabling learning
Principles and practice of assessment

Entry requirements
Learners must have a minimum of 30 hours teaching and be able to demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills at Level 2.

Duration
The core modules are delivered in 18 weeks followed by an option module.  Some modules are available as online learning.  If undertaken consecutively, the maximum time spent on this qualification will be 28 weeks.

Careers prospects/progression
Learners who demonstrate a wider range of teaching are entitled to progress to DTLLS if they have 120 hours of teaching per year.

How will I be taught?
Core modules are delivered in three hour classes on Wednesday evenings from September and Monday evenings from January each year.

How will I be assessed?
There is one theory and one practical assignment per unit.

Course fees: £496.00 to £650.00
