The information that you give us

As part of your application/enquiry to the College we collect the following details: Name, date of birth, gender, address, NI number, contact details, email address, parent/guardian name, parent/guardian contact details and email address, nationality, residency status, first language, learning difficulty/disability, previous school, criminal convictions, courses applied for and how did you hear about Yeovil College.


The uses made of your personal information

We will use your information to manage and administer your education. This will include putting together class lists, for sending event invitations, for communicating with you, for dealing with admissions, for putting together reports and registers, to check entrance exam results, to allocate you to the correct classes for assessments, to make arrangements for exams or visits, to consider whether to offer places to students, to consider whether special provision or assistance is required for exams and visits and to be able to tell other colleges your attendance dates if you leave.


The legal basis on which we collect and use your personal information

Generally, the information is processed as part of our public interest task of providing education to you. Where that information is special category personal information (e.g. medical information) we will process it because there is a substantial public interest for us to do so.

How we share your personal information.

We will share the personal information that you give us with the following organisations for educational purposes:

  • Parents and/or Guardians: to invite students, parents and/or guardians to course interviews, college open evenings, college twilight events and future college events.


  • Local Schools: to assist local schools to monitor their school leavers and their potential educational next step.


  • Careers South West: to assist Careers South West in monitoring school leavers activity and potential NEET (Not in Education, Employment and Training) students.


  • Local Education Authorities: to assist local education authorities to monitor current year school leavers and potential NEET (Not in Education, Employment and Training) students.


  • Social Services: to assist local social services agencies to monitor potentially vulnerable current year school leavers and potential NEET (Not in Education, Employment and Training) students.


  • We may also share your personal information with third parties who provide services to the College:

  • United Kingdom Border Agency (UKBA)/United Kingdon Visa and Immigration (UKVI): Students’ personal information will be supplied to the UKBA / UKVI if a current applicant is deemed to require a student visa to study at Yeovil College. The information will be supplied in conjunction with the student’s confirmation of acceptance of study (CAS) application to the UKVI. 



  • We do not store or transfer your personal data outside Europe.
