Individuals who wish to undertake an apprenticeship in the leisure industry through work based learning. It is an ideal progression course for those who have completed a Level 2 in Leisure Operational Management as a full time or apprenticeship course previously. The qualifications are designed by the industry for employers and this ensures that the training applicants receive will equip them with the skills needed.
Whilst at work, students will receive comprehensive practical training designed to develop competence in carrying out relevant real-life leisure tasks that the employer will value.
The course is divided into two sections
Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Active Leisure Operational Services
12-18 months, although students can fast track if they have met the performance criteria earlier.
A tailored plan for development will be agreed between the employer, apprentice and the college. Applicants may visit the College one day per week to work towards gaining detailed underpinning knowledge of the chosen subject area or receive regular visits in their workplace.
Successful completion of the course could lead to employment opportunities as a qualified Leisure Centre Manager. Students may then progress to study a Foundation Degree at Level 4 and 5 within Sports Coaching and Fitness such as that at Yeovil College University Centre.
