This Apprenticeship is designed for people working in Assistant roles in Health and Social Care environments including care homes, working with people with learning difficulties or disabilities, day centres or nursing homes. The Apprenticeship covers safeguarding, person-centred approaches, health and safety, communication, personal development and equality and inclusion.
You need at least two GCSEs at grade 4 (C), including English Language. If you do not have GCSE Maths at grade 4 (C), you will complete Level 1 Functional Skills qualifications. You must be working in a relevant Health & Social Care workplace throughout your course and need DBS (Police) clearance. This is normally carried out by your employer.
Once you have successfully completed this Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2), you may like to progress on to the Level 3, Advanced Apprenticeship, although you will need an appropriate work placement. Alternatively, you may like to consider other Level 3 qualifications, such as the BTEC Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care. You can also apply for one of a wide range of positions in the care sector, such as Care Support Assistant, Care Assistant, Care and Support worker, Nursery Assistant or Learning Support (Disabilities).
